An instrument to accelerate advancement of research in nanoparticles for drug delivery was gifted on Tuesday to a professor from Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay by Izon Science, a New Zealand-based nanotechnology company, an official said. The device provides the highly accurate information required to aid development of drug systems that could deliver cancer drugs directly to the tumour
The device was gifted to Rinti Banerjee from the department of biosciences and bioengineering, an official said.
Drug delivery is the method or process of administering a pharmaceutical compound to achieve a therapeutic effect in humans or animals.
The device was presented to Banerjee by Hans van der Voorn, the executive chairman of Izon Science at a function held at IIT-Bombay and was attended by Hon Steven Joyce, New Zealand’s science and innovation minister.
